About the event

Join us for an evening of witches, superstition and country lore. Our panel of expert authors include Michael Stewart, author of Black Wood Women, a captivating historical novel about witches, political persecution and the natural world; Sally Coulthard, author of (amongst many) A Brief History of the Countryside in 100 Objects and Stephanie Shields, author of The Strange Woman, the true story of The Washburn Witches.

We'll be talking about how we protected ourselves against witches; witch trials; witch persecutions and how our witchy superstitions ruled our lives in days gone by.
